SOTW Recap + Week 9: Feb 26 – Mar 3, 2024

Slays of the Week

SOTW = Slays of the Week. We love an acronym, and SOTW will catch on.

Hello everyone. I am reporting live this week in writing format because I’m going back to basics. The whole point of this blog and especially Slays of the Week is to develop my writing skills, so here we are. While TikTok and Instagram Reels are a fun way to present information, and I love making a little video, writing is the medium I feel like I should be working on the most. Also, I’m annoyed with TikTok for taking my videos off the FYP for no good reason (very discouraging) and with Instagram for limiting my videos to 90 seconds (also discouraging). So, writing it is. Imagine this as my script.

This week’s slays:

  1. The Cheesecake Factory
  2. Tangelos
  3. Zindagi Tere Naam
  4. Yapping with Friends
  5. Costco Banana Bread

Slay #1: The Cheesecake Factory

Does this really need an explanation? I wanted to dine at this fine establishment this weekend, but sadly I was not on top of it and failed to make a reservation (and the wait was an hour long 😪). Nevertheless, my takeout hero came to the night’s rescue. I will always be grateful my family for instilling good values in me, and loving the 30th Anniversary Chocolate Cake Cheesecake is one of them. This cheesecake is scrumptious and one slice alone is worth the drive. However, consider that I am just one person, and if I were feeding a family or party, I would definitely opt for the Costco Tuxedo cake, which feeds 12 for the same price as one Cheesecake Factory slice.

Slay #2: Tangelos

I am truly shocked by the number of people in my life who think this is a deformed orange. A tangelo is a cross between a tangerine and a pomelo, and they’re currently in season where I live. I love tangelos because I think they consistently strike the perfect balance between sweet and sour flavors. This is the closest store-bought fruit to the tangerines that grow at my parents’ house.

Slay #3: Zindagi Tere Naam

I am always grateful to the universe for bringing me new music, and one of this week’s highlights goes to this new song from the upcoming Sidharth Malhotra movie Yodha. I’ll admit, I wasn’t a big fan of this song at first because I found it repetitive, but now I find it meditative and sweet. Worthy of listening to over and over again for hours (which I often do with my favorite songs). 200 listens later, I can safely say it’ll be a favorite of mine for a while.

Slay #4: Yapping with Friends

I’m so grateful for friends I can yap for hours with. No need for further elaboration or yapping here.

Slay #5: Costco Banana Bread

Run, don’t walk. $7 for a 2-pound loaf of banana bread? I’m going into retirement, my baking days are over. I will admit, my first impression of the banana nut loaf was the overwhelming scent of banana flavoring (side note: it’s probably overwhelming because I’ve never had a Gros Michel banana, and never will). However, I quickly got over it and appreciated the rest of the perfectly moist, mildly sweet banana bread. You can’t beat the price.

Thank you all for joining I will return next week somehow somewhere.
